The Police Visit Avalon!
Staff and pupils were very excited on Friday 22.6.18 to see an Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) appear on the playground!
Sergeant Chris Reynolds delivered a very informative assembly to the whole school about the role of Armed Response Officers within the Police force as well as some vital government advice about dealing with certain types of emergencies. Sgt. Reynolds emphasized that there is no need to feel scared when we see armed police officers as their job is to protect us and keep us safe. After the assembly Sgt. Reynolds and his colleague Constable Jacqui Overy invited each class to take a look inside the ARV, including testing the siren (we had to put our fingers in our ears as it was very noisy!), and some were lucky to sit inside the vehicle. The whole experience seemed to inspire quite a few of our children to wanting a future career in the Police force.
We are very grateful to Sgt. Reynolds and Constable Overy for taking the time to visit us and for giving the children such an exciting and educational experience.
